Inspired by the needs of their own family members, the founders of Motivo created the company on the premise that products should be designed for people’s lives, not just their conditions. Leveraging a combined 40-plus years of product design experience, the founders—Jeremy Knopow and Jennifer Harris—have brought that mission to life with the introduction of the Tour, a radical reinvention of the walker that provides greater independence, ergonomics and personal style.
The Tour is already being recognized for its potential to improve users’ lives. The Tour was named an HME Business 2014 Retail Product of the Year and one of MedTrade’s Top 5 New Products for its innovation and promise to improve the lives of walker users.
“The Tour is the culmination of a three-year engineering and design effort, but it’s really our way of helping people who want to live their lives more fully,” said Harris. “We’re proud of the awards, but the best reward will be seeing users whose lives have been made easier, more independent and safer. That’s why we created the Tour.”
The Motivo Tour combines first-in-class user centric features with beautiful design. Enabled by an unobstructed interior area, users can walk upright and inside the Tour, as opposed to behind it and hunched over. This innovative design allows users to walk with their natural stride: improving posture, reducing fatigue and providing greater stability.
The upright position also puts users much closer to everyday items like cabinets, drawers and sinks. The patent-pending Tour features a revolutionary stow-away padded seat, a folding tray with multiple cup holders and an easily accessible storage compartment that does not need to be emptied when the Tour is folded for transport. Plus, users can make it their own with a range of color options and removable graphic sets, including licensed graphics from the NFL, MLB and NCAA.
Borrowing technology from the aerospace industry, the Tour is constructed of durable yet lightweight materials weighing 20 pounds. It folds easily for transport. For added peace of mind, the Motivo Tour offers a limited lifetime warranty and it is made in the USA.
With the Motivo Tour, Knopow and Harris have successfully redesigned a product that has seen little innovation in decades. The Tour will dramatically alter the healthcare industry, and in the process, positively impact people’s lifestyles for the better.
