Dr. Robert Kuske—along with some of the amazing women on this month’s cover—are not only focused on educating the community about breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, but are helping us all to think pink for the cause this October.
In fact, for several years Dr. Kuske has been volunteering with the Arizona Institute for Breast Health (AIBH), a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving women options before decisions when it comes to their breast cancer treatment. Each October, the organization partners with some caring venues across the Valley to help raise both funds and awareness of the program—and this year is no different. Below is an overview of who is getting involved this year, and how you can too!
Pink Light District
The seventh annual Pink Light District fundraiser is in full swing! AIBH is pleased to offer this unique initiative, which provides a way to honor all those touched by breast cancer. From now through Oct. 31, you have the opportunity to express your love, appreciation and gratitude by sponsoring pink light bulbs, which will be placed on the Marshall Way Bridge in Scottsdale, in honor or memory of a loved one touched by breast cancer. It is a wonderful tribute and unique way to honor those you love. Lights are only $25 and available at aibh.org.
Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale
This October, Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North is focused on raising funds for AIBH in several ways. Talavera restaurant and Onyx Bar & Lounge will feature a signature “Jalisco Heat” cocktail, which combines strawberry-and-jalapeno-infused tequila, fresh lime juice and agave nectar. Onyx also will feature rosé champagne and wine specials by the glass throughout the month, as well a featured appetizer to match. Talavera will highlight a four-course rosé tasting dinner on Friday, Oct. 25, for a cost of $85 per person. Proof, an American canteen, will serve Gotham Project rosé wine on draft as well. The spa will feature the “Pretty in Pink” body treatment, inclusive of a pink grapefruit body polish. Guests also will receive a complimentary pink or black tank top with a Four Seasons logo. Ten percent of all proceeds from each of these offerings will be donated back to AIBH. For more information, call 480-860-4200.
The Herb Box
The Herb Box is offering a specialty menu for the month of October in recognition of The AIBH Pink Light District and Breast Cancer Awareness Month to include pink pastries as well as regular menu items. On the evening of Oct. 3, The Herb Box will introduce the unique menu and promote it throughout the month, as well as offer a pink drink called the Gigi, with a portion of proceeds being donated back to AIBH.
Throughout the month of October, The Vig’s Arcadia, Uptown and Fillmore locations will donate $1 from every glass of Girl Go Lightly brand wine sold and $3 for every bottle. They’ll also host promotions throughout the month, with their top servers and partners at Alliance Beverage stepping up to donate a portion of their proceeds.
SOL may be best known for its fresh and modern interpretation of Baja cuisine, but for the month of October, the popular Scottsdale Quarter restaurant wants to be known as the place supporting women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. This cause is very near and dear to many of the hearts at SOL, so they wanted a way to raise money for women suffering from breast cancer and keep it right here in the Vally: enter the “Ta-Ta Tini”! This delicious drink is made up of 100 percent blue agave tequila infused for two days with fresh watermelon and hibiscus flowers. Every penny of proceeds from this drink all month long will be donated to AIBH.
For the entire month of October, guests who dine at Dominick’s Steakhouse at the Scottsdale Quarter will be seeing pink, literally. Servers and staff at the popular Manhattan-style restaurant will be wearing pink ties throughout October and offering 100 percent of the proceeds from its “Pink Drink,” which is a tantalizing raspberry pomegranate martini with a scoop of limoncello sorbet, to AIBH. Michael Mastro, owner of Dominick’s Steakhouse, said, “At Dominick’s we love to give back and breast cancer has personally touched each of our lives. We are hoping to raise a lot of money for this cause.”
Olive + Ivy
Enjoy the Sour Cherry Paloma, which is made up of Don Julio Blanco, Veev Acai, grapefruit juice, and cherry bitters, all month long—and a portion of sales will be donated to AIBH.
Taggia at the Firesky
Throughout the month of October, Taggia at the Kimpton Firesky will be offering a specialty pink drink, with $1 from each sale being donated back to AIBH.
For the month of October, every time shoppers donate $5 to AIBH, Fascinations will give them a coupon for $5 off their next purchase. Signage is at checkout.
Studio C Beauty Lounge
Throughout the month of October, Studio C is donating a percentage of all hair product sold to AIBH. Studio C will also be accepting donations from customers who wish to do their part as well to support breast cancer awareness. No amount is too small, as every donation goes directly to women who are facing a breast cancer diagnosis.
